My New Website, The Ultra Project, Is Live!

A piece of news I’ve been sitting on for the last monthly during quiet preparation: I’ve launched a new website as a companion piece to this one, The Ultra Project. The site is dedicated to exploring the Ultra series, a long-running Japanese live-action special effects (tokusatsu) franchise. You may be familiar with it’s most famous figure — the giant silver-and-red alien hero Ultraman. In this website, I’ll move through the many different shows that make up the series, taking them on one episode review at a time. As a bonus, I’ll include some side-trips to other monster movies, both Japanese and elsewhere in the world

I’ve wanted to take on this review project since the pandemic. Originally, I thought I’d include reviews of the various Ultra shows on this website, but I started to rethink exactly what I wanted my personal author website to be, which is one reason I took such a long break from it. I finally decided to start a separate website, and it’s now up with more than a dozen posts already published.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Ultra series, start by reading introduction post. You can then find most of the shows available to stream for free on services like Tubi and ShoutTV. I’m currently reviewing the original three Ultra shows, Ultra Q, Ultraman, and Ultraseven, but I’ll soon start adding entries from later in the series history.

As for what will start happening on this site, I’m still in the stages of planning it as I also planning the next stages I want to take in my fiction writing. Look for more updates coming soon.
